Vanity is a style that emphasizes the fleetingness of existence. It has its own codes.
After having made four vanity-portraits of women that you can see in her portfolio dedicated to "Beauties", Patricia Mignone then set out to paint a series of 15 x 15 cm vignettes representing objects or closeups of the various parts of a single woman's body — Catherine, a refined person whose elegance finds a way of expressing itself through piercings and tattoos.
This series enabled Patricia to explore her flesh from very up close, and definitely sealed portrait-making as a privileged medium.
